Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program

The Monroe Local Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Office.  The purpose of this meeting is to vote on a Resolution of Necessity for an Operating Levy and a Resolution creating a community reinvestment area of Real Property.

Arnie Elam, Superintendent of the Monroe Local School District, has announced his retirement, effective December 31. Mr. Elam has been Superintendent since the official start of the district in 2000.

Mr. Elam not only put a district together from sratch, but has taken our schools from Academic Watch to Effective and Excellent in the school ratings, while putting together a first class campus for our students, and coping with one of the fastest growing student populations in the state.

The Monroe School Board has selected Kelley Thorpe as the Monroe Local School District’s new treasurer from among 10 applicants for the position. Her two-year contract, which begins on July 1 carries a $62,500 per year salary.
Mrs. Thorpe has been working as an intern in the treasurer’s office since January, and has been preparing reports and making presentations to the board related to the district’s finances.

The Monroe Local Schools Board of Education will hold a work session on April 17, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Monroe Board Office. The purpose of this work session is to discuss the treasurer search.

Also, the board meeting scheduled for April 16, 2007 has been changed to April 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria.
