Chase Those Winter Blues Away at the Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibit Opening Reception

Lift your spirits with a display of award-winning watercolor paintings, sample a hors d’oeuvres buffet, enjoy a hot or cold beverage and the easy blues of Gregg Clark, watch MAC watercolor instructors demonstrate their skills, and mingle with friends in the warm and inviting setting of the Middletown Arts Center. The 2014 Opening Reception of the OWS Travel Show comprises forty select paintings, including all award winners, from this year’s competition. MLL Craft Show -- May 3rd

The Monroe Lending Library will be hosting a Craft Show on May 3rd from 9 am to 4 pm.

If you are interested in having a booth, please fill out the attached form along with check/money order for $15.00 and return to the library.

**If you have a non-profit organization that is interested in a booth, we will waive the $15 fee and ask that you donate a $10.00 value item to be auctioned at the Quarter Auction.

MLL Quarter Auction-- January 11th

The next Quarter Auction will be held Saturday, January 11th at 7 pm at the Community Room at the Library (6 East Avenue).

All proceeds benefit the Monroe Lending Library Building and Operating Fund.


Bid paddles are $2 each and most items up for auction are 1 quarter (.25) bids. Extra raffle tickets and Split The Pot available.

Two chips in the bucket for a roll of quarters each. Special Jackpot Chip!

Hospice Care "Celebrate Life" Service Dec. 14

Hospice Care of Middletown will hold its third annual “Celebrate Life” Chapel service on December 14, 2013. This service will be held at the Woodside Cemetery Chapel at 7:00PM. We encourage everyone to come a little early to enjoy the beautiful luminaries that will light the way to the chapel. Hospice Care of Middletown invites all of you to come and celebrate the life of those you have loved and lost during this special “Season to Remember”. Monroe First Church of God, Monroe OH reenacts the birth of Christ in the live presentation of “Through the Eyes of a Shepherd.” Visitors experience the true meaning of Christmas, set in the historically accurate Biblical town of Bethlehem, complete with centurions, villagers and live animals such as an ancient breed of sheep called Jacob Sheep which are found in the Old Testament story of Jacob.

The Monroe First Church of God in Monroe will again present their Christmas Nativity Event, “Through the Eyes of a Shepherd,” a live Nativity experience, recreated in every detail, to reflect the real feelings of the birth of Christ. Read more »

Christmas on the Corner Dec. 14 & 15

The Monroe Historical Society is hosting its 2nd annual “Christmas on the Corner of Main & Elm St.” event the weekend of December 14 and 15, from 5-8pm.

An old fashion celebration with both museums “at the corner” decorated in holiday style, the event features Santa & Mrs. Claus, caroler’s from the Monroe High School choir, the Monroe Methodist Church Children’s Bell Choir, a dazzling luminaria display, treats for the kids and lots of great photo opportunities. There will be a special “Winter Wonderland” exhibit and upstairs of the main museum will feature a slideshow of hundreds of photos of Monroe from the early 1900’s and a display of vintage Christmas cards and post cards donated several years ago by the Paul family.
