The summer meeting of the Monroe Historical Society will be on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the activities building at Mt. Pleasant. The meeting is the annual covered dish dinner. The program is 'Purlins, Posts and Haymows: a sneak peek at Ohio's historic barns, 1790-1950.' This will be presented by Mr. Steve Gordon who will profile the types of construction and special importance of these landmarks to Ohio's rural landscapes.Mr. Gordon's presentation has received outstanding acclaim and his audience usually draws an attendance of over 100 persons. The public is invited. Mr. Gordon's presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge.
