MACF Awards Scholarships to Monroe Seniors

Each year the Monroe Area Community Foundation presents several scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors at Monroe Local Schools. The MACF does so by utilizing trusts, memorial gifts and designated contributions to build individual funds to make the monies available. This year, the Foundation awarded the following 2007 scholarships to the recipients listed below.

Hannah Brookshire--The James A. Macready Memorial Scholarship, $1000, to a graduate continuing education in medicine or teaching.

Kristy Sebastian--The James M. Anderson, MD and Bertha Anderson Family Scholarship, $500, to a graduate continuing education in medicine.

Robert Kelley--The Richard L. Miltenberger Memorial Scholarship, $500, to a senior who lettered in high school sports and is continuing education in an art related field.

Kara Cover (vocal music), Robert Kelley (photography), Kristy Sebastian (drama)- The Lee Ann Miltenberger Memorial Scholarships, $250 each, for outstanding achievement in the study of photography, drama and music. Tim and Karen Williams added additional monies to these scholarships to increase the amounts awarded.

Justin Smith (1st place), Kristy Sebastian (2nd place), Andrew Bake (3rd place), and Kayla Cox (4th place)
--The Nancy Cahill GIGGLES Scholarship Fund, two for $500 and two for $250 to graduating students who have demonstrated exceptional interest in the Monroe area community.

The MACF is also pleased to announce an additional Miltenberger family scholarship to be started in 2007. It is to memorialize Gloria Miltenberger's son, Monte Richard Miltenberger, who passed away in 2004.
