Mount Pleasant Retirement Village will host a candidate forum for the Monroe City Council candidates on Monday, October 22 beginning at 4:00 p.m. The forum will be held in the Activities Building, located on the corner of Indiana and Northwestern Avenues. Candidates that will be attending the forum are Michael Gilmartin, Bob Kelley, Suzi Rubin, Tracy Shell and Lora Stillman. The event is open to the public.

Holocaust survivor Conrad Weiner a local Holocaust survivor will speak to ANY/ALL interested community members, parents, Monroe staff members, and students at 7:00 pm in the Monroe Junior/Senior High Auditorium regarding his experiences as a prisoner during the Holocaust. Admission is free and there will be a reception following his presentation to allow any who are interested to meet Mr. Weiner. Junior high student council will be helping host this event.

WPFB (910 AM) is broadcasting the Coaches Corner at Wings & Rings every Wednesday night. Jack Gordon will interview Coach Krause and another head coach between 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Football films will be shown from 6:30 - 7:00.

The Monroe Garden Club Fall Card Party will be Thursday, October 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Activity Room on the Mount Pleasant Campus. Cost is $7.00 per person. You may play any card or board game of your choice. The card party features good food, door prizes and a raffle. Please call Pauline Belcher at 539-8280 or Peggy Hesson at 539-8407 for reservations, as seating is limited.
