Monroe Area CIC Awards Business Grants

The Monroe Area Community Improvement Corporation (CIC)recently awarded more than $30,000 in grant funds to local businesses through its Business Exterior Improvement Matching Grant and Downtown Development Grant Programs.
The CIC’s Board of Trustees awarded five Business Exterior Matching Grants for a total of $10,820. Because this program requires at least 50% of the project cost to come from the company, the $10,820 in grant funds is leveraging an additional $10,820 in private contributions.
Award recipients include Richter Landscaping ($360 for a new ground sign), Monroe Collision Center ($1,540 for landscaping improvements), Fixture Dimensions Incorporated ($2,050 for a new sign), Floorcraft Floor Coverings ($3,170 for a new sign), and Stratson Group/Greentree Plaza ($3,700 for landscaping improvements).
The CIC’s Board of Trustees awarded four Downtown Development Grants for a total of $21,266 in funding. Award recipients included Denny’s Drive Thru ($1,790 for landscaping improvements), Alice Ward on behalf of 115/117 South Main Street ($5,000 for landscaping and exterior improvements), The Mane Stop ($5,326 for a new sign), and Midwest Structural Group ($9,150 for interior office improvements).
The Monroe Area Community Improvement Corporation was incorporated on January 1, 2008 to advance, encourage and promote the industrial, economic, commercial and civic development of the City of Monroe and surrounding areas.
