Flags are Flying at Veterans Memorial

Right: Bob Hale, whose tireless efforts have made the Veterans Memorial a reality,  salutes the newly raised American flag.

As of February 7, the flags are flying at the new Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Rt. 63 and Main St.

Even on such a cold day, a good sized crowd was on hand to watch as Bob Hale raised the American flag to take its place among the flags representing each of the armed services.

Elbert Tannruether and Bob Hale each gave a short address before the ceremony.

Although the memorial is not yet fully complete, it currently includes a bronze plaque and flag for each branch of the service. Bricks are inscribed with the names of servicemen and women, as well as donors for the project. Landscaping improvements and other work will be completed as weather permits.Inscribed bricks are still available and can be engraved on site, please contact any committee member.

Plans are being finalized for a formal dedication ceremony on May 22.
