Monroe's 2nd Annual Christmas on the Plaza

Monroe's 2nd Annual Christmas on the Plaza is on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The event will be located on Church Street off Main St and the parking lot of the City Building.  Parking will be available at the Monroe City Park and The Old Monroe High School.  There will be many Craft and Food Booths along with Free Pictures with Santa inside the Council Chambers of the City Building. Toys for Tots will be located inside the foyer of the City Building to collect toy and monetary donations.

We are expanding our festival throughout the City by offering a FREE transportation by carriage to 4 areas in the city that will have more options for exploring.

The Carriage will pick up at the City Building on Main Street and run to the City Park where families can visit the many public service organizations that will be offering free information, crafts and sometimes a free gift.  There in the Park the Historical Society will decorate the cabin and its tree. They will be helping the visiting children to make "homemade Christmas decorations" (shades of Walnut Grove), stringing popcorn/ cranberry chains and paper chains for the children to take home for their own trees.

The next stop on the carriage will be the Monroe First Church of God's Bethlehem Village from 5 p.m. to 8 p. m.

The next stop will be Monroe's 1910 Museum, which will be open and serving refreshments.  The carriage will then return to the city building on Main Street.

Entertainment will be offered throughout the day on the Stage located at Church Street.

Come join us as we celebrate the season and you can finish up that last minute shopping list.

Anyone interested in volunteering or having a booth at the festival please contact Cherie Gentry at gentryca@bhg.org or 513-850-1954.
