Board Names Kelley Thorpe New Treasurer

The Monroe School Board has selected Kelley Thorpe as the Monroe Local School District’s new treasurer from among 10 applicants for the position. Her two-year contract, which begins on July 1 carries a $62,500 per year salary.
Mrs. Thorpe has been working as an intern in the treasurer’s office since January, and has been preparing reports and making presentations to the board related to the district’s finances.
She will be replacing acting interim treasurer Ed Pokora (who is also the treasurer for Butler Technology and Career Development Schools). Pokora took on the position of interim treasurer for the schools after Sharron Moon became the district’s business manager in January.
Mr. Pokora will continue as the interim treasurer for the district through July 31.
Kelley is a lifelong resident of Monroe, a 1988 graduate of Lemon-Monroe High School and a 1992 graduate of Miami University with a degree in family and consumer science.
She has been with the district in various capacities since the district began operations in 2000, including as a secretary and administrative assistant.
During the time she has been employed with the District, Kelley has completed the additional course-work and internships to earn both a school business manager and a school treasurer’s license.
Kelley and her husband, Brad, live in Monroe with their two sons. Both boys are students in the Monroe schools and are avid baseball players.
Congratulations and best wishes to Kelley on her new position!
