Sport Physicals Available at School

Sport physicals will be given by the Monroe athletic training department. The physicals will take place on July 24th with the boys beginning at 6pm and the girls following at 7:15pm. The physcial forms are to be completed and signed by the student and parent prior to the examination. Cost for the exam is $10.00. Read more »

Eighth Grader Kaitlynn Nall Wins First Place in Career Contest

Congratulations to eighth grader Kaitlynn Nall. Kaitlynn competed in the FCCLA STAR/Skills event in Columbus last week and came in first place! She will be traveling to Anaheim, California in July to the National FCCLA Leadership Conference where she will represent Monroe, Butler Tech., and Ohio and compete, once again, with her project from Careers Class. Once again, Congratulations Kaitlynn!

8th Grade Students Look Back and Learn

Monroe Junior High 8th graders have just completed an extensive unit of study based on the autobiography of Anne Frank. This book chronicles the 2 years that the Frank family spent in hiding to avoid being taken into custody by the Nazi regime during the early 1940s. Unfortunately, their attempts were in vain as the family was discovered and was transported to various concentration camps. All members of the family died while held in those camps except Anne’s father, Otto Frank who lived to publish his daughter’s diary. Read more »

Students attend regional Science Fair

Over 120 seventh and eighth grade students participated in the Monroe JH/SH School Science Fair on February 23rd held in the JH/HS Cafeteria. We had over thirty community member judges.
Several students were ranked Superior, the highest ranking, and qualified to compete at the regional Science Fair at University of Cincinnati on March 10th. These students included: Zach Holbrock, Andy Thorpe, Michael Horvat, Logan Stanger, Nikki Larkin, Gwen Heinkel, Ellen Short, Krysten Flick, Josh McCausland, Rachel Chapman, Morgan Tendam, Hannah Robertson, and Chris Hammond. Our overall Science Fair Winner was Josh McCausland.
Judges commented on how professional and well-spoken our students were as well as their impressive science fair boards and use of scientific method.
