Monroe Band Member selected to Honor Group

This month several Monroe Band members auditioned to be a part of the OMEA District 13 Honor Band. Out of hundreds of band students in the Butler County area, Floyd Leitzinger was selected as a member of the High School Honor Band and Kylie Beeson was selected as an alternate for the 7th grade honor band. Walnuts too tough to crack

Thanksgiving brings thoughts of all the things to be thankful for. For the Hornets, that was a trip to the state semi finals despite opening the season 1-2. They were thankful for the 10 game winning streak that led them to the match up with Big Walnut the day after Thanksgiving, not to mention the 33 – 7 record of this Senior class. They were thankful to have 8 players including the co-offensive player and the defensive player of the year in the 2007 All-Southwest District Football Team. Read more »

Silver spoon offers little protection against Hornet Stings

The Braves of Indian Hill played host to the Monroe Hornets Friday night at Kings High School for the Division III regional playoffs. The Hornets won the coin toss and as usual deferred selection until the second half. The opening kickoff was fielded by #12 Danny Gill of the Braves and moved out to the 27 yard line. Eight plays later their drive stalled under tremendous pressure from the Hornets and they were forced to punt.
