Monroe Dancers Perform with Wright State Dance Team

Monroe sisters, Abbie Fierman, 14 and Alexis Fierman, 10 of Monroe performed with Dancers from the Jeanie Moreland Dance Theatre in Springboro. They took part in the Wright State University Emerald Jazz Dance Workshop on January 10, 2010. The Jeanie Moreland Dancers took classes with the Wright State Dancers, "Emerald Jazz Dance Company" and learned several dance routines which they performed with the college dance team during the Wright State Men's Basketball game against Valparaiso.

Dancers from all over the Miami Valley took part in the one day event held at the Nutter Center.  Local dance studios, high school dance teams and independents learned technique and routines in the areas of jazz, lyrical, and hip hop.  This was the third year the Jeanie Moreland Dancers attended the workshop classes and performed during halftime at a Wright State Basketball Game. Performing Arts Academy Shows

The Children's Performing Theatre of the Performing Arts Academy will present "The Story of the Nutcracker: A Musical Theatre with Ballet" on December 11, 12 and 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Monroe High School auditorium. Tickets are available for $12.00.
On December 18 and 19, the troupe will perform "Frosty's First Adventure" at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00.

Monroe Dancer Wins National Competition in Gatlinburg

Students from the Jeanie Moreland Dance Theatre recently returned from the Applause National Dance Competition held in Gatlinburg, Tenn. July 11-15. Kaleigh Ireton, 12 of Monroe was part of the local group of dancers that have been winning awards all over the state this year and competed at the national event.
