Call for Voices - Monroe Community Chorus

The Monroe Community Chorus will begin rehearsals for their Christmas Concert Series in mid September. The 50 voice Chorus is looking for new members. They will once again be accompanied by an 18 piece Jazz Orchestra made up of the finest professional musicians in greater Cincinnati.

Monroe First Church of God, Monroe OH reenacts the birth of Christ in the live presentation of “Through the Eyes of a Shepherd.” Visitors experience the true meaning of Christmas, set in the historically accurate Biblical town of Bethlehem, complete with centurions, villagers and live animals such as an ancient breed of sheep called Jacob Sheep which are found in the Old Testament story of Jacob.

The Monroe First Church of God in Monroe will again present their Christmas Nativity Event, “Through the Eyes of a Shepherd,” a live Nativity experience, recreated in every detail, to reflect the real feelings of the birth of Christ. Read more »

Christmas Open House To Feature Madcap Puppets' “The Enchanted World”

Christmas on the Corner Dec. 14 & 15

The Monroe Historical Society is hosting its 2nd annual “Christmas on the Corner of Main & Elm St.” event the weekend of December 14 and 15, from 5-8pm.

An old fashion celebration with both museums “at the corner” decorated in holiday style, the event features Santa & Mrs. Claus, caroler’s from the Monroe High School choir, the Monroe Methodist Church Children’s Bell Choir, a dazzling luminaria display, treats for the kids and lots of great photo opportunities. There will be a special “Winter Wonderland” exhibit and upstairs of the main museum will feature a slideshow of hundreds of photos of Monroe from the early 1900’s and a display of vintage Christmas cards and post cards donated several years ago by the Paul family.

Christmas on the Corner of Main & Elm

Join the Monroe Historical Society for an old fashioned Christmas event complete with Santa Claus, a reading of The Night Before Christmas, The Monroe Methodist Church Children’s Bell Choir 5:30-6pm, The Monroe High School Choir 6-7:30pm, and a dazzling Luminaria display surrounding both museums! Community Chorus Christmas Show Dec. 2 & 3

Many of you have been asking about the Christmas Concert Series. Well we have been in full rehearsal mode since mid September. The performance dates are Friday Dec. 2, and Saturday Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. The concerts will be held at the beautiful Monroe HS Auditorium. There is no admission charge. All of the music that the 55 voice Monroe Community Chorus will be performing is brand new. The arrangements are wonderful and will showcase several styles of music including jazz/rock, mambo, waltz, swing, ballad, and big band just to name a few. Read more »

“Let Heaven and Nature Swing”

Back by popular demand: We had such an overwhelming response and attendance (standing room only for both concerts) that the Monroe Community Chorus and Jazz Orchestra will be performing “Let Heaven and Nature Swing” again this year. The Chorus is made up of 60 of the finest voices from the Monroe and the surrounding area while the Jazz Orchestra is made up of 17 of the finest professional musicians in the greater Cincinnati area.
