Mommy and Me Make Music Expands Its Schedule for Winter Session

This January Mommy and Me Make Music will begin offering more classes than ever!  Classes are for children from 4 months old to 4 years old and their caregivers.  Classes are now being offered in two Monroe locations and a location in West Chester.  As always, in-home classes are also available for playgroups and can be scheduled to fit your needs.  Jodi Williams, a board-certified music therapist, teaches each class and designs them to encourage social, motor, cognitive, developmental and communication skills.  Bean bags, parachutes, scarves, balls, instruments and songs are used to reinforce age-appropriate and educational themes each week.  Visit the website for more information on scheduling and to register your child at www.MommyAndMeMakeMusic.com

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading Camps Coming to Monroe

Parents, would you like to have your child participate in a fun, Christian-based sports camp where everyone plays? Upward Camp is for you! Beginning Saturday, January 8, 2011 and ending Saturday, February 5, 2011, Monroe United Methodist Church will be holding Upward Basketball Camp and Upward Cheerleading Camp for children 1st through 6th grade for boys and girls. Each Saturday, children will learn the basics of each of these sports. The registration cost per child is $45. Deadline for registration is December 27, 2010. Forms are available at Monroe United Methodist Church, 206 East Avenue, and Coffee Beans & Brew, N. Main St. Form and registration fee may be dropped off at the church office anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday or place in the U. S. Mail. 3rd Annual Middletown Freedomfest

On Saturday June 5th, from 11:30am-8pm, Smith Park in Middletown will be the host to the 3rd Annual Middletown Freedomfest. The even is an all day Christian music festival that will feature many great bands, soloists and comedians from all over the tri-state area. The event is completely free to the public. There will be free food and drinks, as well as many different activities for kids, including Smith Park's splash pad. Appearing at this year's fest include: NewsDay, Frantic 180, Lest We Boast, Live Past Life, James Potts Band, Erica Keene, Eden's Tree, Roman's Highway, Dana Honerlaw, Tim Consley, Rick Allen, comedian Rob Stamper, and comedian Eric Johnson. Bethlehem Village December 12 & 13

The Monroe First Church of God will recreate the sights, sounds and activities of Bethlehem 2000 years ago for its regionally-acclaimed Bethlehem Village. The walking tour through the village is free and open to the public.
Upon entering, visitors will be given a few “shekels” to purchase small items from the many shops in the village. The potters, tent makers, bakers, leatherworkers and many other tradespeople will be happy to share information about their crafts.
Visitors may also encounter shepherds with their animals, Roman Centurions, and perhaps a beggar or two along the way. Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus can also be found in the manger. Read more »

Presbyterian Church Christmas Pageant

The Monroe Presbyterian Church will present a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service and Christmas Pageant at 7:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Open practice for all children interested in participating in Christmas Pageant will be held on Sunday, December 6th at 10:30 a.m.
The church is located at  57 W. Elm Street.
